<Mendrick> With the council hall in utter ruins, Ourani command has temporarily shifted back to their base in the docks. As such, Mendrick won't have to walk through town to find his commander when she asks for him - a bit of a let-down, if only because the priest had missed out on the fighting, and was *hoping* for someone foolish enough to try and test him. Still, Jayda only summons him if the work is important, so he'll make his way to her temporary office
<Mendrick> he'll make his way to her temporary office with all due haste, slipping in as quietly as usual. "You called for me, Lieutenant?"

* Jayda glanced up when Mendrick spoke, settign aside a report she'd been reading. "Intahera-Sergeant Zahr. Come with me." She wasn't wasting time, it seemed, and as she rose fromher chair, it was clear she intended to go outside as she was already wearing her overcoat and she retrieved a shortswort sheathed on a belt hung from teh back of her chair. She belted it on and crossed the room to step out the door, but even as her hand c
<Jayda> even as her hand closed around the handle, there was a brief flicker and the sword at her hip was gone, replaced by the usual beast of a blade on her back.
<Mendrick> "Of course, Lieutenant." He's all smiles and politeness to his superiors, and to the men he serves with, he's a fairly genial preacher. So what makes him so crazy to the Sinarians? Who knows... Zahr will follow Jayda as she walks, a respectful distance between the Lieutenant and himself. "I trust this has something to do with... Recent events? Our Lord Osurak has shown us his displeasure in recent days - both I and the newly-arrived Intahera A
<Mendrick> both I and the newly-arrived Intahera Alphin of the Observant are in agreement on this." He makes a point of bringing up Osurak to Jayda - he's not quite sure where her loyalties lie, so he has to keep prodding them.
<Jayda> "It certainly does," is all the woman offers as she leads the way down the hallway, and ultimately out of the building. "There are examples to be made, and one in particular I feel you would be best at making." They of course wouldn't be stopped at the gates, the markings on her collar enough to let them through if the guards didn't happen to recognize her to begin with.
<Mendrick> "I live to serve my god and my country, Lieutenant." He'll only pause at the gates to make a quick sign over the guards - a gesture they seem to appreciate, likely because of the fear put into them over the last few days. "What does my country ask of my abilities?" He's relishing the prospect of exacting Osurak's vengeance, but other than that twisted little smile, he seems just as serene as usual.
<Jayda> "I don't believe the people of Sinari know enough to properly fear the dragon's wrath." There is a long walk across town, and before they reach their destination, Mendrick may well guess the destination she has in mind. "These people have subjugated fire. It serves them and thus they are too comfortable with it. They need to be reminded what there is to fear."
<Mendrick> "Yes... Their complacence is a sin that offends the Dragon God, as it should offend all who serve Him. But enough words. Osurak desires action - what shall I do?" As if to emphasize the point, he'll raise his hands, slowly turning them over as though he were a soldier examining his sword. The beads remain wrapped around those tattooed claws for now, but he is clearly eager to remove them.
<Jayda> And finally the pair come to Jayda's destination--the home of one Sadurean Avinash. Jayda stops in the middle of the street facing the building. "Burn it until there's nothing but ash on the wind." She was certain he could do it, and even if he couldn't, she doubted he'd do anything less than his utmost to do as much.

<Mendrick> When Mendrick sees the target, he is overcome momentarily by a fit of laughter - yes, he remembers this place. He remembers the fear he put into the Avinash boy. He has been looking forward to *this*. With a flourish, the beads are unwrapped and placed into the deep pockets of those crimson robes, and the emaciated little man will step away from Jayda, towards the house, chanting to himself quietly. "Great Dragon. Grant me your might, that I
<Mendrick> Dragon. Grant me your might, that I may put a heavy *fear* in the hearts of the heretics!" There's a distinct edge to his voice, now, and the chanting gives way to laughing as he lifts his hands and begins to gesture. In the sky above Sinari, the clouds seem to change, to darken, to take on a distinct shape - that of a dragon, spreading its wings. As for the priest? He's trembling now, and one could swear that there's a faint reddish glow abou
<Mendrick> He's trembling now, and one could swear that there's a faint reddish glow about his features - his twisted, wasted frame seeming full of strength. With a shout, he will drop his hands, thrusting them out towards the house, and everything will fall still. There's a sound, like a great inhaling of breath, from all around, and then the peace is torn asunder. The dragon cloud will seem to light, and a pillar of fire will issue forth from the heavens with
<Mendrick> fire will issue forth from the heavens with a loud crash, smashing into the house with the utmost precision. It lasts a matter of seconds, and then is gone, taking the cloud with it, and leaving only the smoldering remains of a once great house. Zahr will turn back to Jayda, a wild look in his eyes. "The sinner and the heretic are to be reviled, and I, in my great and holy glory, shall remove all trace of them from *my* earth."

<Jayda> Of course it was only an empty house, but let Mendrick believe what he wanted. It was a message not just for Sinari, but for a very recalcitrant bard as well. If he was smart he'd understand what that meant. If he was foolish, well, there were always more things to burn. A satisfied smirk curled Jayda's features as she watched the smoke and steam rise from what had been teh Avinash family home.
