<Rahdrey> 'He's on patrol..' and 'He's got another shift.' and 'You just missed him.' The mage is starting to believe this kidnapper-mage is impossible to track down. After the third time he failed to catch the supposed jail-bird he went to the Captain's office and firmly knocked on the door. After the meeting with Ghyle last night he's ready to work out an equitable solution for everyone and the truth be damned.
<Calanthar> "This had better be good! C'mon in, then!" Calanthar doesn't even bother looking up from his desk anymore, let alone getting up and answering the door himself. His only visitors these days are soldiers, since no one wants to walk into a barracks with Ourani troops milling about. Rahdrey will find the Captain hunched over a letter that he's writing, with a cloud of smoke hanging over his head - It really does add to the effect
<Calanthar> add to the effect
* Rahdrey steps in and closes the door behind him. The staff is propped against the wall and he'll take a seat as he digs out his notebook from an inside coat pocket. He'll be polite enough not to interupt, waiting until the man is finished before speaking. "I'd like to sort this mess out today, if we can."
<Calanthar> He won't have to wait long. When the Captain looks up and sees the young Sergeant Whats-his-name, he'll set his pen down, fold up the letter, and toss it into a drawer. When Rahdrey mentions finishing up the investigation, he'll nod along. "I see... And what have you discovered in your own investigations into the matter? I haven't been able to speak with the Ourani yet." And didn't really care to, for that matter.
<Calanthar> that matter.
<Rahdrey> "Honestly, nothing solid, but right now it's definitely in Corporal Meggary's favor. There are no witnesses to support your man and it doesn't matter what really happened because Larose is a prisoner and nobody is going to let Ghyle lose face against a kidnapper." He opens the notebook, flipping through, "One thing though.. He insists that Larose is some sort of mage. Is that true?"
<Calanthar> "Mage? Not that I've ever seen." Hey, it's not a lie - he's never actually *seen* Bryce heal anyone. "If he was a mage, why wouldn't he have, say, just torched your man Ghyle with his magic, or turned him into a newt or something? Unless he *did*, and Ghyle got better... But I digress. It sounds a bit far-fetched, to me." He'll shrug nonchalantly, reaching for a smoldering half of a cigarette.
<Rahdrey> "Hmm. Well, by all accounts then, your soldier assaulted ours and should be given over to our custody." He could try to dig deeper, but he simply doesn't want to lose any more of his own time working on this and both sides are sticking to opposing stories. When he says 'all accounts' he really means.. 'all accounts that matter' since a prisoner has no rights.
<Calanthar> "Larose is currently in prison serving out a sentence - one that, I should add, is a far bit weightier than an assault charge. I can't and won't sign him over - especially not while I have yet to finish my investigation. I have yet to speak to this man Ghyle or any of his other witnesses. I must say that I have my doubts as to the veracity of their claims, which to me seem to range from far-fetched to outright *bullshit*. Larose will remain here, a
<Calanthar> *bullshit*. Larose will remain here, as he is *definitively* a convict to us, and only *alledgedly* to you." Is he just being obstinate? Sure. Would he hand over *anyone* to the Ourani? Probably not. But then, Rahdrey would be ill-informed if he didn't expect resistance.
* Rahdrey certainly didn't expect Calanthar to agree. He was hoping, but didn't expect. "Captain? What do you want to accomplish with this investigation? Meggary attacked him, he attacked in retaliation with his friends." IF Ghyle's hairbrained story is to be believed. "The only other thing I can do is dumb it down if you drop the stabbing issue, and it will all blow over." That outcome still favors the Ourani and he's pretty s
<Rahdrey> Ourani and he's pretty sure he won't get in trouble for that.
<Calanthar> "One man attacking a *group* of others? That just smells of a lie there - hell, it doesn't even fit the man's profile. It also doesn't explain how he was stabbed with his own sword. I fail to see why three men would need to pierce another, now-unarmed man with his own weapon. Subduing an unarmed man isn't even that hard for *one* person. Now, you may be just fine with ignoring truth in favor of avoiding the wrath of those above you, but I won't se
<Calanthar> wrath of those above you, but I won't see lawless and violent behavior rewarded if I can help it. If you're not willing to investigate the matter fully, that's fine. I'll go to your superiors this afternoon and request that you be reassigned." Which wouldn't be *helpful* to Rahdrey, but Calanthar is distinctly aware of that.
* NuclearWriting is now known as NuclearOUT
* Rahdrey tenses, not wanting the captain to get more people involved. "I don't know Larose and according to the facts he's a convicted criminal. If he's serving a heavier sentence than assault that does little for his 'profile'. Obviously if he's capable of kidnapping, he's capable of attacking. I talked to Meggary and he has the names of two men that will speak in his defense. If you have solid proof that Larose is in the right, th
<Rahdrey> is in the right, then show it to me. Otherwise, the complaint is as substantial as the corporal's argument that he was beaten up and 'miraculously healed'."
<Calanthar> "I should first point out that he is guilty of an inherently non-violent crime, and indeed, in his entirety here in Sinari, has never been noted in our records for any history of violence. If you have the names of Meggary's two men, then by all means give them to me, so that I may speak to them. If your corporal is capable of lying that he was beaten up and miraculously healed, that does little for *his* profile, Sergeant."
<Calanthar> profile, Sergeant."
<Rahdrey> The fact that they're allowing investigation at all is only to humor the Frost Watch. Rahdrey knows this, it was actually written in his orders. He's supposed to keep them happy so they feel like they have some control without actually giving any. He chews on the statement quietly, still clinging to the chance to that this can be solved here and now. Giving over the names will only prolong things further. "What punishment would y
<Rahdrey> "What punishment would you like to see carried out in regards to Corporal Meggary's misconduct?"
<Calanthar> "I'm not just looking to punish Corporal Meggary. If it comes to light that he was actually the one who began that fight, I want him *and* his little friends held accountable for their actions. The severity of punishment should always be in keeping with the severity of the crime, Sergeant, I can't speculate as to what *should* be done at this time, and I can't in good conscience say what I would *like* to be done." If Rahdrey has an imagination, h
<Calanthar> done." If Rahdrey has an imagination, he might be able to understand what the Captain is talking about.
<Rahdrey> "Okay, Captain. I'll consult with my superiors on what is to be done." Yeah, sure he will. Not on his life. "I'll order Meggary to come talk with you, as well." He stands, too frustrated to continue this discussion. His level of authority towards granting Devregon any freedom to pursue this matter is extremely low. He's supposed to keep it quiet and settle it quickly.
<Calanthar> "Very well. If that is all, then..." His voice will trail off, but he's already reaching into the drawer for that piece of paper, which he'll keep folded on his desk. He still doesn't have Meggary's friends' names, but hopefully the Ourani in question will give them up when and if they speak. Rahdrey knows where the door is, and the Captain seems to have shifted his attention elsewhere now.

* Rahdrey had decided that if they went out to the area where the stabbing actually took place, maybe .. just maybe, it would shed light on the situation. He had requested Captain Devregon come along so that they're both privy to the same information. He's not sure what it might accomplish, but it's a way to get a better idea for what happened with the assault.

* Calanthar is just so happy to finally be out of his office that he's not even complaining about the company he has to keep. He doesn't even have to rely on a cigarette to keep him sane as he walks along with Sergeant...Err... Whatever the guy's name was. Have to look at the file again. When they reach the scene, he'll move away from the sergeant's side and begin a precursory search over the area. "Take note to look for anything that may have been drop
<Calanthar> look for anything that may have been dropped..." He's not sure what he's looking for, exactly, but things rarely ever started out like that.
* Rahdrey will nod, pulling the winter hat on more snugly against the bitter wind cutting across the snow. They're out on the east side of town towards the south along the wall. It's a less populated area, but patrols do come by from time to time. He looks around, wondering how they're going to find anything in all the drifted snow, but will begin poking through it with the end of his staff. "You know.. I can have Ghyle put on probat
<Rahdrey> Ghyle put on probation and we can leave it at that.." He offers, still wanting to be finished with this all.
* Calanthar will grunt and shake his head, moving to the other side of the area, unslinging his spear and occasionally using it to prod into the snow. It's anyone's guess as to the man's system. "I won't be satisfied without a thorough investiagtion, sergeant. Whoever was responsible needs to be held fully accountable." So Bryce, you *damn* well better have been telling me the truth back there, or you're going to be screwed.
<Calanthar> to be screwed.
<PlotDevice> As the two men prodded about in the snow, they may notice that further ahead one of th drifts seemed to be shifting slightly... and there wasn't any wind to lend to the illusion of movement. There also wasn't much sound, though if they both stopped, they may hear a muffled crunching.
* Rahdrey peers up at the fading light in the late afternoon sky, sighing a small cloud of steam into the freezing air. "Look, Captain. My hands are tied. There's not much more I can do. It's just going to be a waste of time. You'd do better to just let it go. There's nothing here that's going to help, I see that now." He looks around at the crusted snow, shaking his head.
<Calanthar> "Sergeant, I'm no fool. I know that even if I had 30 eyewitnesses that said your man tried to kill Larose with no provocation, your... ilk would give him a slap on the wrists and let him go. That said, I'm not about to just roll over and let it happen. There's a lot more here than the disagreement of two men - you'd do well to remember that the next time you try to convince me to drop the matter." The moving snow drift catches Calanthar's eye and
<Calanthar> snow drift catches Calanthar's eye and he'll pause, watching to see if it shifts again. Could just be the snow settling for all he knows. Could have been a trick on his eyes.
<PlotDevice> The drift was still again, and just before Calanthar looked away, it shifted more dramatically, actually dislodging a few clumps before settling back, the fisures in the crust now plain to see even in the fading light.
<Rahdrey> "Is there? Are you trying to make some point? Because if you tell me what it is I can pass it along and save us both the effort of freezing our asses out here." He's tempted to conjure up some fire just to warm up. They're going to need more light very soon anyhow. The staff is prodded at the snow, "I already chewed Meggary out. He'd be a fool to try anything else."
<Calanthar> "Your superiors know as well as I do what the point is. Every time I have to talk to them it only becomes more and more clear." Calanthar is about to say something about Meggary being an Ourani, thus making 'fool' redundant, but that snow bank makes a massive shift, and his attention is dragged back to it. The spear comes down into a ready position as he crouches and begins to move closer, not taking his eyes off of it when he next addresses Rahdr
<Calanthar> off of it when he next addresses Rahdrey. "Sergeant, if you would help me check *this* area over here, please?"
<PlotDevice> As he gets closer, the noise becomes more clear--an irregular crunching and gnawing noise punctuated occasionally with minor shifts in the snow. After a few moments the movement seems to stop completely, but the sound continues unabated, changing only in pitch and intensity.
* Rahdrey doesn't actually think that the Captain of the Watch would jeopardize his safety. He hasn't brought any backup along, not thinking it neccessary. Still, when the man emphasizes the request he can't deny the shiver that runs through him when he considers this could be some sort of setup. The mage looks over, brown eyes searching in the dusk light. "What is it?" The crunching sound.. that's weird. "Stray dog or something?
<Rahdrey> "Stray dog or something?"

<Calanthar> "Possibly." Hopefully. "If you'd give me a hand over here, I'd appreciate it..." This was Rahdrey's idea, so the possibility that Rahdrey had something... planned hadn't escaped his mind. He'll stop short of the snowbank to peer at it, dropping into a low, defensive stance in case some nimodo soldier tries to attack him, or something of the sort. The bank seems to have ceased moving, but Rahdrey's hesitance is either out of fear or preordain
<Calanthar> hesitance is either out of fear or preordained knowledge, and the latter would not bode well for the Captain.
<PlotDevice> At the sound of Calanthar's voice, the crunching stops and there's an eerie silence in the wake of the grating noise. If either had good enough hearing, they may detect a deep snuffling, rather unlike any of the noises the wind so often produced in the snow.
<Rahdrey> Ironic that they both suspect the other. Such are the tensions of war. It never occurs to him that Devregon might have the same worries, so he'll move up to stand behind the man, gaze turning to watch around them as much as the snow in front. "If it's an animal we should leave it alone." He remarks, lowering his staff defensively across his torso to hold in both hands.
<Calanthar> "Whoever's up there watchin', preserve me..." Calanthar will take a step to the side, so as to be able to keep Rahdrey in the corner of his vision. He's not entirely comfortable with a fire-wielding Ourani behind him. Then there's a slight step forwards and he'll poke lightly at the snow bank with his spear. Whatever that sound was didn't seem distinctly human, but then what does one call a nimodo?
<PlotDevice> How often do lizard men hide in snowbanks? A lot less often than what was really beneath the surface. When the snow was prodded, the response was immediate and violent. Snow fountained into the air, and in its midst was a towering form, blood and gore smearing the short snout and dripping off either clawed arm, the body of what was most likely, unfortunately, a citizen, based on the red-stained tatters of fabric still clin
<PlotDevice> fabric still clinging to the savaged limbs. The creature made no sound, but it swing one heavy arm towards the Captain, the sheer size of it likely enough to bowl the man over were he unlucky enough to be caught by it.
* PlotDevice is now known as Sinarian_Yeti
<Rahdrey> Ahh, if nimodo were hiding the snowbanks. It's a likely setup. A troublesome Watch captain, formerly of the Ashetai army, lured out to a remote location in the exact same fashion as Larose was. Rahdrey doesn't think in terms of potential murder and the convenient scenario never occurs to him. When a towering creatures breaks the settled snow of the bank, rising like some white monster and stained with blood, the mage instinctively
<Rahdrey> mage instinctively reaches to try and grab Calanthar's cloak to drag him back. "What the hell is that?!" He yells.
<Calanthar> Experience kicks in and Calanthar drops and rolls out of the way, the rush of air over his head signifying that he only just avoided that massive arm. Then he's up and backstepping, spear out to try and keep the beast at a distance while he looks for an opening. Rahdrey's voice echoes in his ears, and all thoughts of the young man as enemy are erased by the imminent threat - now Rahdrey's just another one of his men in his mind. "Yeti! Get awa
<Calanthar> his men in his mind. "Yeti! Get away from it, boy! I'll engage it, you burn the fucking thing!" He'll move over towards the sergeant then, sending a thrust at the creature's head to try and ward it back and let Rahdrey move away. Where's a damn patrol when you need one?
<Sinarian_Yeti> The spear thrust at its face and it flinched back, its heavy arm this time swinging in with deceptive speed at the haft of the weapon. If Calanthar wasn't lucky the spear would be caught up by its massive hand, and then it would be the yeti's strength against the captains over who got to keep it. To be fair, the yeti likely wouldn't keep it long, it wasn't gready... but it did like to break things, too. And even as it t
<Sinarian_Yeti> And even as it tried to remove the annoyance prodding at it, it dropped into a low crouch with its other arm holding the remains of its meal to its chest.
* Rahdrey doesn't know enough about the creatures to know how foolish Calanthar is being for trying to keep it at bay by himself. He backs off as words to the spell reach his lips, his chanting steady despite the frantic question moments earlier. The fireball is not especially impressive, at least compared to the ones he conjures for tackling buildings, but speed is a concern over volume of flame. He also has to be careful not to burn
<Rahdrey> careful not to burn Calanthar. He finishes the casting, not bothering to take the time to channel it through the staff, and a small blazing ball soars towards the yeti.
<Calanthar> Oh, Calanthar knows that he's not being especially intelligent, but another instinct took survival's place. The spear haft is barely brought back in time to keep the Yeti from getting a grip on it, but the speed and weight of the arm is more than enough to knock the weapon away from the creature's face even on a glancing blow. It's all he can do to hold on and bring it back to bear as he backs up further, the shock reverberating down his arms. Ho
<Calanthar> shock reverberating down his arms. Hopefully Rahdrey hasn't fled, because there's no way he can take this thing down alone. Hell, even with the sergeant it would be a feat. Maybe that prayer *has* been heard. If he makes it out alive, the Captain's going to be looking for that old prayer book of his for one of thanks.
<Sinarian_Yeti> If The Captain knew any more about Yeti he'd realize now would be an excelent time to escape as it had already caught its prey for the day... but then the ball of fire came flying at it, exploding apart on its shoulder and cascading flames over its body. Rahdrey had managed to do, then, what few had ever witness--the beast screamed, a keening roar that sounded both furious and terrified. It didn't advance on Calanthar or
<Sinarian_Yeti> on Calanthar orthe mage at that point, instead diving into the snow in an attempt to escape from the burning that was rapidly consuming its thick fur. As the dusk deepened, only the rising steam was a sign to its current position... and it seemed to be moving away and to the side, perhaps skirting Calanthar, perhaps trying to flee to a safe place.
* Calanthar won't be pursuing it as it moves out of his range, still recovering from the shock of that hefty arm. "Give it another one! Bring it to the ground!" It's scared and, probably for the first time in its history of eating Sinari's citizens, injured. "Don't let it get away if you can help it - it'll get back in later for another meal!" He's following the steam, keeping his distance in case Rahdrey fires another blast. At the very least,
<Calanthar> Rahdrey fires another blast. At the very least, he wants to find out how the damned thing is getting in.
<Rahdrey> Magical fire. It's great for burning through things at an accelerated rate. One has to wonder what it can do to a person's flesh. (That's a sight he would love to get out of his head and out of his nightmares.) Orson's mind isn't on the past, and the beast's screams as the blaze eats through it's fur almost drowns Calanthar's instruction. Rahdrey begins chanting again and holds his staff in front of him this time as he focuses the
<Rahdrey> time as he focuses the magic onto the gemstone. Fire begins building at the head of the staff, the flames roiling as they grow. The last was the size of perhaps a child's kickball. This will be bigger, but consequently takes longer.
<Sinarian_Yeti> The problem with trying to kill the Sinarian Yeti was twofold. Not only were they large, dangerous and difficult to kill, they were also uncanny in their ability to learn, making them much more efficient killers as well as more able to survive what they encounter. It had always been debated by those that hunt yeti exactly how fast they learn, but it was generally agreed that it was better to leave a yeti unharmed than to
<Sinarian_Yeti> unharmed than to injure it and let it escape. Calanthar and Rahdrey were getting a firsthand lesson, one that, while not unseen before, often left the witness unable to communicate it. With devilish quickness the beast darted in from one side of the mage, on the far side of the waiting Captain, and its goal was to bowl over the man, intent on killing the threat that had hurt it so much.
<Calanthar> "Fuck!" This thing just *delights* in taking exception to the 'big things move slowly' rule, doesn't it?! "Sergeant, watch yourself!" Calanthar's charging now, trying to get to Orson's side and possibly even stick a spear into the damned Yeti. If it gets away now, it's just going to be all the more careful and deadly in the future, which is saying something given the fact that it has evaded the Frost Watch and kill so many with such relative
<Calanthar> Watch and kill so many with such relative ease.
<Rahdrey> He holds the staff steady while channeling more magic into it, the inferno growing and brightening the snow around them. Focus is neccessary, and he's trying to cast quickly which requires considerable extra concentration to avoid fouling up the spell. Brown gaze is locked on the yeti, watching it while he chants. He loses it when it dives into the snow, but Calanthar's warning aids the mage and Rahdrey locates the creature again j
<Rahdrey> the creature again just as it charges at him. Just prior to the yeti slamming into him, the Ourani releases the spell, thrusting the staff forward to launch the now quite large fireball at point blank range. It's momentum is too great for the mage to avoid being hit, but he'll instinctively squeeze his eyes closed and try to twist to the the side, preferring a face full of snow in lieu of a face full of arcane fire.
<Sinarian_Yeti> At the range in which the mage had released the spell there was no way the creature could avoid the attack, but it was able to twist away from some ofthe blast, its still-carried meal taking some of the flame and thus protecting a patch of its flank. It again howeled, two distinct pitches echoed in its cry, enough to make the more susceptible's head pound. As it was, it was still big enough that despite its evasive actio
<Sinarian_Yeti> its evasive action, it would still collide with Rahdrey. If Calanthar had the mettle to stand up to splashing magical fire and a screaming beast, he may even land a few blows, though who could say how telling they might be? It doesn't even seem like the yeti ever actually falls down as it's up so quickly and trying to flee, building flames consuming what remained of its fur and rising like a rampant crest behind it.
<Calanthar> Screaming? Fire? All good memories. Rahdrey goes down - *his* soldier (at least in his present mind) goes down, and the Captain's striking out with his spear, aiming for the chest, where a human's heart would be. Whether or not a Yeti's heart resides in the same place is unknown; Calanthar is no Yetologist. The front hand loosens, allowing the rear hand to slide the spear forward with all that built-up power as the lead foot steps forward and t
<Calanthar> as the lead foot steps forward and the rear circles his body out of the line of the thrust, allowing him more of a chance to sidestep if the beast tries to bodyslam him as well.
<Rahdrey> Much of the spreading fire falls back on the mage, and luckily it's a situation he's dealt with before. He feels the sharp, cold snow and ice hit his face as the beast knocks him down, but the devouring flame is his greater concern. He reaches with his free hand to scoop piles of snow, shoveling them in towards his person and dipping his burning arm, chest, and shoulder to frantically douse the magical blaze that's chewing through
<Rahdrey> that's chewing through his heavy leather coat. If he wasn't so heavily bundled up he might have abandoned the garment completely. Calanthar is on his own for the moment, Rahdrey doesn't want to end up extra crispy like the battered fish at the pub.
<Sinarian_Yeti> Calanthar's blow lands, but it's hard to say where exactly it hit as the beast doesn't stop to address the attack, and thus doesn't give much indication as to where it was hit. It's beyond obvious that the strike didn't kill the yeti, and it may even happen that in its rush to escape, the spear might just get wrenched out of Calanthar's hands. Regardless, the creature flees a good ten yards before diving into a deeper dr
<Sinarian_Yeti> into a deeper drift, steam and smoke billowing out of the hole it made. It made no more cries, though, instinct making it try to mask its location as best it can. The smoke and steam have to stop eventually, after all.
<Calanthar> Calanthar will let go of the spear after giving one sharp twist and pull, knowing that he stands no chance of pulling it out of the fleeing Yeti's thick hide. That means he's forced to go in with his sabre, which slids out and into his hands as he moves to the bush, slicing in an arc where the beast disappeared. It's fancy footwork and technique that will have to save him now, since he doesn't have distance or a fire-flinging mage.
<Calanthar> or a fire-flinging mage.
* Rahdrey finally rises, breathing heavily from the excursion. He doesn't know how badly he's burnt, but he's trained well enough to know that the combat is more important if he's still able to stand. He stabs the spear into the snow, knowing he won't have enough time to use it for another extended spell if the creature rushes again. Instead he draws the short sword at his side, moving in to help Devregon while he runs through possible
<Rahdrey> runs through possible other spells that might be of use. "Are they nocturnal?"
<Sinarian_Yeti> By the time the much slower Calanthar reaches the spot where the yeti disappeared, it's obvious the beast hasn't stayed still. The creatures, after all, do construct burrows in the snow and ice and thus are capeable tunnelers. In built up snow it's a simple matter for even a yeti this large to displace snow to permit it to travel beneath the surface. It seemed this yeti had had enough of the pair and was focusing simply
<Sinarian_Yeti> focusing simply on surviving. Likely it wouldn't attack again unless they cornered it... and really, who wants to corner a yeti?
<Calanthar> "Hell if I know! Give us some light anyhow, the damned thing's digging away!" Calanthar's looking for any sign of where the beast has moved to, despite the limited visibilty, and stabs the snow a few times where he thinks he sees it moving or thinks he sees blood in the ice. "Be careful, the bastards dig quickly - if he's feelin' like fightin', he could pop up anywhere!" Or he could have dug out and under the wall. Wouldn't that just be a k
<Calanthar> under the wall. Wouldn't that just be a kick in the arse.
* Rahdrey speaks a considerably shorter spell, light blossoming in the area. It's nothing more than a glowing orb that floats in the air, something that will hang suspended there until it dissipates. He steps back away from the deeper snow at Calanthar's warning, looking around warily.
<Sinarian_Yeti> For a time they could hear the sound of scraping and shifting snow, but by the time it stops, it's becoem difficult to say where exactly it was. Silence reigns, then, and at the very least no burned, pissed off yeti leaps out of the darkness at them. It was likely hiding or was now running away over the snow as silent as only yeti can be.
<Calanthar> "Dammit, that thing has my spear in its chest!" Calanthar's scouring the snow for blood, cursing to himself that he let the beast escape having claimed another victim. It's impossible to say now who the person was - even if the Yeti dropped the body, it was probably charred beyond recognition. Without looking up from the ground, he'll bark a few words to Rahdrey "Sergeant - are you badly injured?"
* Rahdrey flexes his arm, glancing at the burnt, wet leather. He's probably burned, but he's not noticing any extreme pain beyond the normal dull ache of scorched flesh. "I don't think so." He continues watching the perimeter, moving back to collect his staff. "Should I signal for a patrol?" Mages are so *useful*!
* Sinarian_Yeti is now known as Una
* Calanthar nods, now growing frustrated at the lack of dead Yeti. "Do it." are the only words that come out of his mouth as he walks along the snow bank. Well, the only audible, *polite* words. There are a few grumbles to be sure, but if Rahdrey's lucky, they won't reach his ears.
* Una is now known as NuclearWriting
* Rahdrey will point his staff up at the sky, and send a gout of flame bursting up into the dark horizon. There was more casting involved, of course. He's starting to feel a bit drained, needing a few minutes for his mind to clear after so many back to back spells. "So that was a yeti?" He asks finally as he gingerly pulls off his coat, wincing from the leather sticking to his skin in some places where it burned the hottest. He's g
<Rahdrey> the hottest. He's going to get cold, but he has to survey the damage.
<Calanthar> "That would be correct, sergeant. That one in particular has been causing trouble for some time. As you may have noticed, the things are sneaky, tough, and worst of all, *smart*." Now that he's calming down, he's returning to the normal formalities with Rahdrey, wiping the sweat off his brow and turning to regard the mage. "You can now tell everyone back at the barracks that you stood up to a Sinarian Yeti and not only survived, but actually se
<Calanthar> and not only survived, but actually sent it fleeing." A cigarette finally comes out, and after it's lit, Calanthar will turn back away from Rahdrey.

<Rahdrey> "What, is that something that will get me laughed at. I'll pass. I'd just as soon not remind people of my talents." Is that a hint of remorse towards his chosen profession? Does the mage not agree with the uses his magic is being put to? He reaches down and scoops up more snow, pressing it against his shoulder where the fire burned through his sweater and shirt. "How does it get past the wall?"
* Calanthar shrugs, giving up the search entirely now and waiting for the nearest patrol to arrive. "We don't know. No one's ever driven it off or given chase before. Usually just sneaks in, kills, leaves."
