<Mendrick> Some people claim that the Ourani are sinister bastards who attack and burn houses in the dead of night. It's not that Mendrick *cares* what a bunch of nonbelievers think, but in an effort to prove them wrong, he's selected to make this mission a little earlier in the evening. The Sinay family should be just about setting down for dinner when the cleric and his retinue arrive at the door. After all, Zahr is never one to travel alone, and tonight he

<Mendrick> never one to travel alone, and tonight he's brought three nimodo as opposed to the usual two. He'll motion for the nearest one to move to the door and knock, a small smile playing on his lips.

<Coatlicue> /me growls, it's bad enough to be stuck in the coldest place in all of Ridian but it's been so dull to boot ever since the Sinarians raised the white flag. Other than those two fires it's been like watching grass grow...not that any could grow in this frozen waste land. Coatlicue gives a sinister sneer to Mendrick and knocks on the door.

<Sinay> Twenty-four years old, short black hair and gray eyes, and well-liked by most of his peers. Corporal Rod'om Sinay stepped up to take his father's role in the family when he was but fourteen. His father was sick and his mother devastated, so it was only natural that the level-headed boy take charge of things. He has a smile on his face as he answers the door, perhaps a bit surprised to see a retinue of Ourani on his porch. He's wearin

<Sinay> his porch. He's wearing his white uniform, not yet changed from his day's work. Still, his first reaction isn't immediately poor. "Good evening.. Is there a problem in the Watch?"

<Mendrick> "I seek Corthas Sinay. Does he reside here?" Short, to the point - no explanation given, because to the Intahera-Sergeant, there's none needed. "I would prefer to handle this with all due speed, and we will be on our way once business is concluded..." You would think that a man Mendrick's size would be more careful in how he talks to people, but the priest certainly doesn't seem to give a damn - he seems more bored than anything else.

<Mendrick> more bored than anything else.

* Coatlicue grabs the door and holds it open, gesturing to Sinay to step outside "Come along now we don't need any trouble." Of course everything in her voice suggests she would just love him to try otherwise.

<Sinay> Rod'om looks between the Sergeant and the three nimodo, his gaze lingering on Coatlicue the longest since she's standing nearest. "Sergeant, may I ask what this is about? My brother is in my unit in the Watch. If there's a problem I can handle it." Even as he's speaking there's a younger-looking version of the man stepping into the hall behind him, perhaps sixteen, and likely Corthas himself. Rod'om will remain in the doorway, pr

<Sinay> remain in the doorway, presenting himself as a suitable barrier against entry into the home.

<Mendrick> "I am here to arrest Corthas Sinay for his part in a conspiracy against the Ourani government, including conspiracy to murder and attempt to incite rebellion, and I would prefer that you *not* waste any more of my time. It would not be wise to test my patience, soldier, for you stand against Osurak himself, and the Dragon does *not* forgive his enemies." Mendrick manages to keep that half-smile on his face as he says it, eyes narrowing as they peer

<Mendrick> he says it, eyes narrowing as they peer into the larger Rod'om's. He begins playing with the prayer beads, removing them from his hands - almost idly, it might seem, were it not for the expression that flits between the two nimodo behind him. "Move, or be moved."

* Coatlicue waits for Sinay's next move should he fight or flee eyes moving back and forth from the man in the hall to Sinay.

<Sinay> Corthas's expression behind his brother quickly transforms, idle curiousity replaced with shock and fear. "Rod.. they're lying!" He whispers harshly even as he takes a step back in the hallway. The older brother twists to glance back at his sibling, waving him further inside. "I'll take care of this, go wait in the kitchen." Rod'om turns his attention back to the Ourani, still refraining from abandoning his protective stance

<Sinay> his protective stance in the door. "Do you have any proof of this, Sergeant? I've not heard a word of such things and before one of my unit is hauled to a cell I would like to understand the charges more fully." He steps forward, reaching to pull the door closed as he does so, preferring to discuss this out of earshot of the rest of his family.

<Mendrick> "I don't recall ever having to explain a thing to you, corporal." Mendrick will sneer at the man, even as the two nimodo behind him move up to his side. "I have proof, yes, but I don't have to waste my time explaining myself to the likes of you. I will, however, remind you that if you continue to try and interrupt this mission, I can have you hauled in accordingly. How would your poor, dear mother like that? Both of her sons locked up, no one t

<Mendrick> that? Both of her sons locked up, no one to take care of her, no one to protect her." His eyes will flit over to Coatlicue, and he'll nod at her. "Soldier, go retrieve young Corthas."

* Coatlicue will look to one of her fellow Nimodo "Quick, go around back and make sure no one tries to run out that way." Coatlicue will then step forward to enter the home and growl. "Step aside or prepare to be arressssted."

<Sinay> Rod'om still refuses to move, his face hardening. "I'll get him, and I'm coming with you. I want to know exactly what's going on here. There's no reason to get violent, Sergeant." He gives Coatlicue a steady glare, silently daring her to try and follow, then the man pushes the door open again to step inside. He'll leave it open for their benefit, calling, "Corthas! Come out here!"

* Mendrick won't move, content to let everyone scurry about for him, idly playing with the beads now that they're off his arms. It's more a ritual than it is an act of boredom, however - those familiar with Zahr's sect know that the removal is an act of supplication most in the Holy Militant do before invoking their god. "I don't have all night, Sinay. You are both trying my patience very severely."

<Coatlicue> Turns sideways in the door so as not to be so large of a target, just in case there are any caster happy mages about inside. Coatlicue flicks her toungue in and out trying to sense the other occupants.

<Sinay> "Corthas! .. Corthas? What are you doing?" Rod'om calls, then scowls and heads down the hallway to go find his wayward brother in the kitchen, leaving the Ourani on the porch for now. The soldiers outside might hear a startled shriek from the back of the house.

<Mendrick> It will only be a few moments after the scream that a large nimodo comes back around the house, half-dragging the younger Sinay, who is clearly bleeding from the arm. "Ah, well done Tergar. Well, Mister Sinay, this attempt at flight does not reflect well on you. I've half a mind to declare you guilty here and now and get it over with, but... We'll see how your case stands when illuminated by His holy fire. Now, have we wasted enough time on this

<Mendrick> Now, have we wasted enough time on this pursuit yet?"

* Coatlicue grins at Mendrick and then looks at Rod'om " Don't you reckon we should take that one in too? I would call this aiding a wanted man to escape. Go in the kitchen he says, more like code for sneak out the back."

<Sinay> It doesn't take long for Rod'om to realize what transpired out the back door, and he hurries back through to the front room, ignoring his mother as she asks what's going on. He hears the tail-end of Coatlicue's words, a scowl growing on his face. "Your soldiers go around terrorizing folks, of course he ran. He's scared! I'm going with you. I demand to know what these charges around about, Sergeant." He'll grab his white Frost wat

<Sinay> his white Frost watch cloak and sword, then moves to try and shove the nimodo woman aside so he can get outside.

<Mendrick> "The innocent have nothing to fear - it's guilt that is brought to light by the Dragon, and so it is the guilty that fear his fire. Soldier, remove that man's sword. If he wishes to accompany his brother, he will do so unarmed." To be honest, Mendrick doesn't fear that the man might try to attack, but Rod'om has been enough of a pain in the ass to where he'd rather not have to deal with the man.

* Coatlicue 6 foot form bars the man's path out the door, one foot a few inches back from the other to prevent him from knocking her over like a log. Coatlicue extends one hand before Rod'om. "Your sword good Ssssssirrr."

<Sinay> Corthas, the younger of the two by perhaps eight years, appears very frightened. He's pressing his hand against the clawed gash on his arm as Tergar drags him along, offering no further resistance as he turns a fearful expression to his older brother. Rod'om in the meantime, seems absolutely furious by the treatment. He gives Coatlicue a dark look, and then tosses the sword aside to the floor. He'll try again to push the nimodo aside

<Sinay> push the nimodo aside, snapping at her, "Move! I'll not see my brother harmed any further!"

<Mendrick> "If I were you, Sinay, I would follow your younger brother's example... Any attempts to resist and harm an Ourani soldier are seen as treacherous acts in the eyes of the law... Not to mention in His eyes. I only suffer your request to join us out of my good will - do not push your luck." He'll turn away from the scene, back to the younger Sinay, apparently leaving Coatlicue to her own devices for the time being.

<Mendrick> being.

* Coatlicue grins at Rod'om's attempt to push her out of his way, she then steps aside and gives him a "helpful" shove to send him along. "Perhaps we should have a couple of soldiers search the house as well, we would'nt want anyone in there covering up any possible evidence do we?"

<Sinay> Rod'om stumbles from the shove, almost falling. Her taunt is enough to have him twist around, fist balled tightly. He catches himself before he takes a swing, but his breathing is heavy and the look on his face is murderous. "There is no evidence because these charges are completely ridiculous! My brother is just a kid!" He reaches to grab for Coatlicue's sleeve so he can pull her away from his home. "You better believe that I'

<Sinay> better believe that I'll be telling Commander Crillner about this." He adds, another glower thrown at them all. Corthas is still silent, eyes wide as he watches the Ourani Sergeant.

<Mendrick> "A good point, soldier, but we haven't the time or men for it at present. When we return, you may select a team to do this job..." He'll smile a nasty little smile as he glances over to Rod'om, knowing what must be going through the man's head when he thinks about this nimodo going through his house. "As for ridiculous charges, we'll see what young Corthas has to say about them after I've questioned him. *Personally*..."

<Coatlicue> /me grabs Rod'om by the wrist and attempts to twist it painfully behind his back, using her other hand to grab his shoulder. " None of that now darlin." She says talking down to him like a naughty child. "You want to look after your wittle brother in one piecccce don't you?"

<Sinay> Rod'om has always been known for being a good soldier and rather reasonable. He has strong family values, and always enjoys his work and responsibility. When the sergeant speaks of more Ourani coming back to search the home his temper snaps. Rod'om turns his gaze to Mendrick just as Coatlicue grabs ahold of him from behind. "Auugh! Bitch! Let go!" He growls, struggling to pull free from the stronger nimodo. "This conduct is.. c

<Sinay> "This conduct is.. completely out of line! I'm reporting all of you!" As if that will actually get him anywhere. Corthas speaks up, voice wavering, "Rod.. Rod'om.. don't get hurt!"

<Mendrick> "You are the one whose conduct must be noted, Sinay. We are acting fully within the law, and you are attempting to interfere. Complain to whomever you want; you will find that it will get you nowhere." The thought that Crillner can do anything about this just earns another sneer from the priest, all too tired of this pitiful resistance on Rod'om's part by now. "Now cease this foolishness and come along, or I'll have you arrested as well!"

<Mendrick> I'll have you arrested as well!"

<Coatlicue> Snickers gleefully a horrible sound like an angry snake issues forth on top of her more human sounding laughter, staring at the struggling form in her grasp. "Oooh, I like my men fiesssty." She attempts to keep him under control and move him along after his brother.

<Sinay> Rod'om isn't a complete fool, and Mendrick's words are enough to remind him that he won't help anyone in a cell. He ceases his fighting, swearing under his breath. He mutters something about -Ourani- law, but that's as far as his protests go. Corthas is dead silent now, too worried to dare say anything. Obviously the boy has never been in serious trouble before.

<Mendrick> "Much better. Let us be off to the ship now. After this one is tossed into the brig, you can return here for your search." Then, smiling once more, Mendrick will move off down the road, followed by Tergar and Corthas, with the other nimodo behind the pair. That took longer than it needed to, but at least it was mildly entertaining for the cleric, who now slips the beads back over his arms with a muttered prayer.

<Mendrick> prayer.

* Una has joined #Sinari_Town

* ChanServ sets mode:

o Una

* Coatlicue slackens her grip on the man releasing his shoulder but still guides him along by the arm and sighs. "Just when things were starting to heat up too, your not much of a date." Coatlicue gives a sly smile and winks to her Nimodo companions.

<Sinay> Rod'om says nothing further, still seething in anger. He fully plans to get to the bottom of it all, not believing one ounce that his brother is involved in any resistance movement.
