<Bryce> To give a quick run-down, this was Bryce's day. He got up, did a lot of the usual chores around the barracks. Then he went to see Adina on his break, in a rather good mood since he had her birthday present -and- permission from Devregon to take a night off for a romantic dinner. While he was there Abrem dropped his bomb. Bryce was angry for the rest of his patrol, and was immediately shoved into a second patrol due to being short-staffed. It was during that patrol with Lanva that he heard that Adina was -arrested- by some holy priest from Ourani. He's walking through the streets now, heading towards the barracks to try and track down Devregon.

<Bryce> And how is Bryce feeling? -Turbulent- emotions. He's scared, angry, scared again, and then it's immediately quelled by a rage that's boiling. He's still furious with Abrem, and it's the only thing keeping the terror at bay over the knowledge that the Ourani drug his girlfriend off.
<Braddock> It was Brad's opinion that having money was good. It was very good. Especially when he had enough money to get himself respectably inebriated--not drunk, no, that was something low-lifes did. He had his own money, so it was all respectability. Or at least that was the running theme of the evening. Singing a song to himself (and most of the street) in his own language, Brad was taking a winding path back towards home.
<Braddock> home.
* Bryce spots his brother ahead, and that's probably the only acceptable detour on his little mission. He had walked out on his patrol partner, direct defiance of what he -should- be doing right now. She hadn't said anything, but there simply was no way he could stand another minute when Adina might be hurt.. or the baby. "Brad!" He jogs to catch up to his twin, "I need you!" There's a strained tone to his voice that suggests something is wrong, if his emotions aren't a big enough clue.
<Bryce> voice that suggests something is wrong, if his emotions aren't a big enough clue.
<Braddock> It takes a moment for Brad to realize he's being called out to, then to realize it's his native tongue. It's a bit longer for him to get turned in the right direction, and even longer at that before his broad grin breaks down under the assault of his brother's emotional state. Rubbing vigorously at his nose he squints at his twin and tries to block out the roiling sensations. "What's happened?"
<Bryce> "They took her.. The Ourani arrested Adina. Something about.. I'm not even sure. Benton said she might be hurt, and the man was a priest of some kind, used magic on a bunch of people." He twists his hands nervously, looking around, "I'm supposed to be on patrol, but I was going to go find the captain. That's the right thing to do, isn't it? She could be burned.. Benton said fire!"
<Braddock> Oh, it was about Adina. Okay, that made sense, then. Brad let most of the torrent wash over him, catching words here and there. "You're going to ask the Captain... to protect her?" That was the only thing he could think of that might string everything together into any sort of sense. He likely wouldn't have even thought of that if he were sober.
<Bryce> "Something! I can't go see her by myself.. I'm not allowed through the gate. Damnit! Why are you drunk?? You're always drunk!" Okay, Brad doesn't really deserve that but Bryce is still furious about what Abrem said to him earlier. "Maybe I can sneak past the guards.. This is all a nightmare! Why can't you ever be sober when I need your help?!" It's been a while since Bryce has been -this- upset. He wasn't even this riled up over Morgan. Depressed, sure.. but not so angry. If there was something available for him to break, it would be destroyed.

<Braddock> Okay, distressed sibling or no, Brad never responds well to being yelled at, and Bryce has gotten his dander up now. "Oh, you need me? To do what? Hold your hand while you pace around? Stand there while you plead with your captain?" Was he shouting? Probably.
<Bryce> "He's a complete bastard! I told Abrem I would do whatever I had to do, I would stop at nothing to make sure she was taken care of! What does he say to me?" Brad's angry now as well, but Bryce barely notices, "He says that the only way he'll let me marry her is if she lives under -his- roof, we take -his- damned money, and his sister or something raises the baby.. way the hell off in Ignari or something. He said we weren't capable of taking care of the baby ourselves! He called me a child!" It feels good to get it out, and while the ease of his frustrations likely won't last for long, he can vent for a few minutes. "What the hell does he know what I can and can't do?? He's a fucking coward! He has the ability to heal and he's scared to use it!"
* Braddock was now angry -and- confused. What the hell was Bryce yelling about? He stares at his twin for a few moments before he finally manages in a soft, tense voice, "The the fuck does this have to do with your Captain?"
<Bryce> "I left.. I walked out, earlier this afternoon after Abrem basically offered a marriage of being a lapdog. Now she's been arrested and if I go see the Captain.. maybe he can get her back. But then Abrem will just rub it in my face if I have to get help. What am I supposed to do?!"
* Braddock rubs his head with one gloved hand, the torrent of words and emotions mixing in a most unpleasant manner with his drunken state. "So you mean that Abrem could get her back without help?" Bryce really wasn't making any sense. Wasn't the whole point just to see that she was safe, not quibble over who did it?
<Bryce> Certainly that's the point, but Bryce is too angry and insulted right now to sort that out through his fear. "Maybe.. I don't know. He's rich. So I should go find the captain, right? I mean, to hell with Abrem." The fear is trickling in again now that he's worked out some of his anger.
<Braddock> "Ummm... yeah, the Captain. You should definitely talk to him." Brad was nodding slowly, a bit bewildered by teh entire situation.
* Bryce scowls at his brother, realizing finally that Braddock simply isn't going to be much help right now in all of this. Maybe if he wasn't drunk. The problem is that Bryce doesn't have a tremendous amount of friends that he confides in, and he has some serious doubts about dumping his problems in Calanthar's lap.. but who else can he turn to? Abrem might have been an option once, but not anymore. "I'm going to go find him." He grumbles, turning about to make for the barracks again.
<Bryce> go find him." He grumbles, turning about to make for the barracks again.
* Braddock blinks after his twin, then trots off to follow him. He doesn't try hard to catch up, but so long as he can get wherever Bryce is going, that would be fine by him. Maybe he'd sober up some on the way and actually -be- useful, too.
