<Micha> The snow had finally left and Micha was pleased. So pleased... He laughed as he locked up his shop grateful that the letters went out with the last ship. Nothing could stop his plans, he gleemed as he stepped into the bar and walked by the hearth. Waving down the barmaid, he handed her some copper for this drink.

<Rahdrey> A day that isn't snowing in Sinari? Damn skippy, it's like a holiday. The sergeant is off duty and meandering through town looking for something to do. He's alone, not terribly keen on taking escorts with him, and things have been quiet enough for the last few weeks that he's not overly concerned. When he spots the familiar pub he decides to grab some lunch and heads inside. He crosses to the bar, barely glancing around, and rests his staff against the wall as he waits for the barmaid to come and take his order.

* Micha eyes the Ourani soldier and chuckles again as if to laugh at him. Why did the Ourani want to drink here? Last time, Micha had a sharp tongue and it almost cost him. But not right now. Ah. The drink. Micha thought as the barmaid came with his snowfall ale.

* Rahdrey hears the laugh and turns his attention towards Micha. Oh.. he recalls this impertinent trader. He hadn't been able to track down where the insolent man works, but that doesn't mean he's forgotten their last encounter. The question is, does he care enough to let it ruin his -lunch-? No.. no he doesn't. When the barmaid attends to him he'll order a bowl of stew and a hot cider. It may not be snowing, but it's still damned cold out.

<Rahdrey> it's still damned cold out.

<Micha> "So Ourani, I hear you been asking about me..." Micha tempts him as he takes a drink from his ale. It was fun to tempt people especially if you didn't know them. "Let me be the one to help... what do you want to know?"

* Rahdrey looks back to the merchant. "Hmmm.. lucky for you I found better things to do. Quit while you're ahead, trader." He says, smirking. His tone is dismissive, as if he doesn't care anymore. Which is the truth. Rahdrey is rather lazy.

<Rhen> The fact that the snow has stopped is news to Rhen. The man has spent most of his time in the infirmary working - he even gets sleep there sometimes! Seeing his chance for a break, the doctor bolted out of the building and across the street - entering to the sound of Rahdrey Orson's mocking voice isn't a wonderful thing, but as long as he leaves the man alone, he should be able to avoid getting dragged into anything, right? It's one quick glance at the s

<Rhen> anything, right? It's one quick glance at the sergeant to make sure Rahdrey's not looking to turn his mood on him, and then Rhen will slide across the building to the bar and order a whiskey.

* Micha doesn't get rid of his grin. "Lucky? It sounds to me as if you were... I don't know... LAZY!" Hopefully this hit a nerve.

* Derkin was not in the best of moods. Normally he didn't consider himself an angry person, but since the occupation of Sinari, he'd found himself sinking deeper and deeper into a state of perpetual irritation. Today, he decided to try and force himself towards happier thoughts over a nice bowl of stew and an ale. He'd made it about two feet into his favorite pub when he noticed the hateful glare of Ourani colors on the uniformed offic

<Derkin> the uniformed officer at the bar. "Just flippin' perfect," he grumbles to himself. He seats himself at the bar and orders his meal, casting a nasty glare in Rahdrey's direction. He doesn't really care if Rahdrey sees or acknowledges it. Any hope of a peaceful lunch is already spoiled.

* Rahdrey shrugs. "Again.. your fortune." He turns back to the bar, tugging off gloves and pulling out coins to pay for his ordered meal. Nope, not going to ruin his lunch over this fool. After? Who can say. He picks up his spoon and takes a careful bite from the steaming bowl. Derkin arrives and sits near him. Oh splendid, glares from this one as well. Rahdrey smiles in return, an almost mocking thing.

<Rhen> It's almost enough to make Rhen feel bad for Rahdrey. *Almost*. And only because the Ourani sergeant has shown hints of having a human soul under that pissed-off nature and desire to burn things. Who the man trying to push Rahdrey's limits is is a mystery to Rhen - he doesn't have much of a life outside the infirmary. Derkin he thinks he might recognize, but anyone who has ever come in contact with the Ignari doctor knows that he's not very social when

<Rhen> doctor knows that he's not very social when he's off work. He'll get a nod, and that will be all.

<Micha> Sipping his ale, he decides to sit down at the nearest table and just sit back and watch. This should be fun, he thinks as he eyes the other Ourani. No way, they would know about the blockade...

<Derkin> Out of the corner of his eye Derkin notices Rhen's arrival, but his better judgement and social graces escape him just now. He's far too occupied with the mocking smirk Rahdrey's throwing his way. "You got something you wanna say?" he snarls heatedly at the mage.

<Rahdrey> Just one lunch.. is that so much to ask? He takes in a slow, audible breath, smirk fading. "I'm a sergeant and specialist in the Ourani army. Watch your tone or you'll find yourself in a cell." He turns his gaze over to Micha, "The same applies to you. Test my patience today and you'll find my 'laziness' can be easily set aside."

<Rhen> "Alright now... I don't think anyone wants any trouble..." The tone is calm, rather cautionary as he looks over the three of them. Come on people, I'm on break. Don't make me go fixing you all up. I just... Want... A drink! "I'm sure we can all share this rather generous space in peace for just a little while, now..." So then why does he have that pinprick sensation in the back of his mind that violence is going to break out before long?

<Rhen> going to break out before long?

<Lanva`> "Someone's got their panties in a twist today..." Lanva's voice carries from the open doorway, entering just moments before, once again dressed head to toe in Watch whites, sword at her side. She pushes back ger fur-lined hood as she crosses the room to the bar, ordering her usually warm cup of tea.

<Micha> "The room seems a little stuffy," Micha comments eyeing his glass. Half full. It'll be a good day, then. "Besides, we don't need panties in twists, do we?"

* Derkin scoffs at the threat. "You can take your fancy titles and shove 'em where the sun don't shine. I'll talk to you however I want." He'll glance back at Rhen. "Maybe you want to share your space with the enemy, but I'd rather not have to stomach the sight of someone who burns down people's homes for fun!" He casts a disgusted look back at Rahdrey as he says this.

<Rahdrey> Oh.. that is just too much. He turns his head to regard the newest arrival to this little party. A Frost Watch soldier no less. He clenches a fist, irritation rising. Derkin's words are enough to push the sergeant to the point of actually doing something. He stands, reaching for the staff leaning against the wall nearby. "Corporal, come detain this man. It seems he wishes to be taught the truth of matters."

<Rhen> "Come on now, both of you - surely this doesn't need to come to this. He's not broken any laws, and we don't need any violence in here!" It's probably the most forceful that Rhen has ever been. Dammit, if they start taking swings... Or worse, lob fireballs, this could get out of hand rather quickly. "If you would all just calm down, we could resolve this without trouble on anyone's part!"

* Lanva` raises a brow at Rahdrey as she leans against the bar, tired and irritable. "And what has he done to be detained for? I didn't see anything." She shrugs a bit, taking a sip of her tea which is wonderfully warm. It may not be snowing, but it's still damn cold outside.

<Micha> "But Rhen, it's already too late, the Ourani has done more than burnt down homes," Micha called to the man who fixed his arm upon first arriving at Sinari. "Or, what do you suppose we do? We can bag the Ourani and throw him out for the Yeti to feast on..."

* Derkin actually laughs at Rahdrey's declaration. "The truth? Oh I'm well aware of the truth you Ourani pig. The truth is you are invaders, and anyone who doesn't obey you has their home burnt down, their livelihood ruined, or are tossed to rot in jail." Tough though his words are, Derkin braces himself should the Frost Watch Corporal behind him decide to intercede on Rahdrey's behalf.

* Rahdrey is in a bad spot now. Things are nearing the point where they can be considered 'out of hand' and Lanva isn't cooperating. Insubordination, defiance, and a general disgruntlement. "You're refusing to follow a direct order from a superior, corporal?" He asks in a cold tone, brown eyes on her dangerously now. He can't remember her name, but her rank is enough. There aren't that many women corporals in the Watch. He holds the staff tightly, bringing the words of a spell to mind. Derkin is regarded, "Perhaps you'll understand after see the full strength of Osurak's will." His words don't have the fervent ring to them as when Mendrick preaches, but Rahdrey isn't a cleric, either.

<Rahdrey> the Watch. He holds the staff tightly, bringing the words of a spell to mind. Derkin is regarded, "Perhaps you'll understand after see the full strength of Osurak's will." His words don't have the fervent ring to them as when Mendrick preaches, but Rahdrey isn't a cleric, either.

* Rhen looks at Micha in a state of disbelief. What kind of... "Or, here's an idea - we could all behave like adults instead of wanting to beat the shit out of someone because we don't *like* them!" The words are practically spit out of the doctor's mouth - in disgust, he turns to his drink, watching Rahdrey with a wary eye while he downs it. "We can't go around calling people murderers if all we're going to do is murder them right back, and we can't

<Rhen> to do is murder them right back, and we can't write people off as violent wretches is we're going to *torch* them!"

* Lanva` sighs, shaking her head as she sets he teacup down. "Sir, I would gladly take him into custody if there were reason to do so. Has he done anything wrong? 'Cause I didn't see anything." She rested her hands at her hips. Yes, she was getting a little cheeky. And bold. But this guy irritated her and she wasn't about to detain an otherwise innocent man for nothing.

* Micha whispers to Rhen, "Good thing he doesn't know where I live, or that his commanders won't allow him to go there..." Standing up, he drinks the rest of his ale. Then raising it up at the barmaid, he fingers two and points at the glass. "Rhen, what would happen if they burn down your home? Would you cry out 'murders' and go for revenge? Ourani have been nothing but a threat since they have arrived! Great Seas! They still

<Micha> Seas! They still don't know how to conquer a city properly..." Eyeing his two drinks, he places one on the table as he starts drinking the other.

* Derkin glances back at Rhen. "If it were your family and home that were destroyed you'd probably be singing a different tune." He turns his attention back to Rahdrey. "Go ahead...Burn me. You'll only prove my point that you Ourani are heartless monsters who's only interest in keeping us alive is so we can be added to your list of conquered territories!"

* Rahdrey gives Lanva a disgusted look, stoicly ignoring the rest for the moment. He walks up to Derkin, reaching to take the man roughly by the arm. "I guess I shouldn't be surprised by insubordination from the Watch. It's a useless organization, only allowed to remain for show. Sir, you're under arrest." He'll deal with Micha in a moment.

<Rhen> "Gah! *Idiots*!" Rhen will throw his hands up in the air, spitting out a few curses before turning to Lanva with a pleading look. "Lanva... Please... Help me talk some *sense* into these people before they get their heads taken off!" This has officially gone beyond the point of 'I just don't want more work in patching you all up' - now he's genuinely worried that someone is likely to get *killed* on his watch.

<Rhen> watch.

* Lanva` 's hand is on her sword hilt. Insubordination, here she comes. A few steps bring her closer to Rahdrey. "I can't let you do that..." She'll glance to Rhen with this apologetic little look. She can't just stand by and let the Ourani do as they please. "You may be my 'superior'" the word was practically spat from her mouth with disgust. "but I am a member of the Watch and it is my

<Lanva`> duty to uphold the law. That includes your actions as well."

<Micha> "Sense? What's that?" Micha lightly throws his glass at Rahdrey and quickly picks up his second glass. "Run, Watch guard! RUN!"

<Derkin> The look Derkin gives Rahdrey as he grabs his arm is positively venomous, and he is not about to go quietly. "Arrest this," he says, his free hand balling into a fist and aiming to slug Rahdrey in the face.

* Rahdrey would have had a lot to say to Lanva about what his duty is and what -hers- is, but not only is an ale mug being thrown at him, but Derkin is aiming a fist at him as well. As quick as he is with spells, that's a bit more than he can handle in such a short amount of time. The glass catches his attention first and distracts him while he throws up an arm protected by his heavy leather coat to deflect it. Derkin's punch connects solidly with his jaw, startling him as it seemingly came from nowhere. He sorts out the assailant and brings up the staff to try and crack Derkin upside the head with the hard wooden stave. While he does this he begins speaking the words of a spell, the language slippery and foreign sounding.

<Rhen> "Fuck!" Rhen hears the mumbling, and though he can only guess at what it is, he's moving, running across the room to try and grab Lanva and move her to cover, flipping a table as he goes. If there's a fiery explosion, he'd rather it toast him than the young lady. Micha and Derkin on are their own, it seems - Rhen's got other concerns at the present time. "Bloody idiots are going to kill each other and everyone else!"

<Rhen> else!"

<Micha> "Sense? What's that?" Micha smiles as he's glad that the other Watch member was there to cover. But he had nobody covering him...

* Derkin had seen enough of the Ourani fire mages' work to know that Rahdrey was casting. Distracted by the momentary panic of getting a fireball to the face, he only saw the staff come upside his head at the last moment; not enough time to block the blow. Even with the stars circling his head, what little sense he still possessed was screaming at him to stop the mage's casting. So he did the only thing he could think of. He aims to kn

<Derkin> think of. He aims to knee Rahdrey in the stomach.

<Lanva`> "Now, see, that's a means for arrest. Striking an official." She'll move to lean towards the man, if he wasn't brought down by the staff to the head. She whispers, near as his ear as she can get "Just cooperate with me and you likely won't die a burning death." To Rahdrey she speaks, shrugging off Rhen's attempts to drag her away. She's got work to do. "Sir, I don't think a firestorm of

<Lanva`> whatever you're planning to cook up if necessary at this point. I'm taking him into custody and he will be dealt this accordingly. Yes?" The question directed at Derkin so be sure he complies. If none of this seems to quell Rahdrey's anger, or that of Derkin, she'll hastily retreat to Rhen's overturned-table-cover, huddling behind it. Yup, shit got bad. And watch or no watch, she was no match

<Lanva`> for a firemage or any kind.

* Rahdrey is -almost- finished with his spell when Derkin's knee sinks into his stomach. Lanva's words of reason aren't going to help much now. He takes the blow fairly well, but the sudden grunt it produces causes him to trip in the careful phrasing required to make the magic work. His spell fails. "Damnit!" He draws his short sword at his side, a weapon he hasn't pulled from the sheath in months. "Shut up, corporal! Go arrest that man!" He points towards Micha with the sword, probably not the wisest course of action with Derkin right in front of him.. but who's bold enough to assault a man with a blade drawn?

<Rahdrey> corporal! Go arrest that man!" He points towards Micha with the sword, probably not the wisest course of action with Derkin right in front of him.. but who's bold enough to assault a man with a blade drawn?

<Rhen> The situation is out of Rhen's hands now... With one hand rubbing his forehead in exasperation, the doctor can only stand there and mutter curses at how far out of hand this has gotten. Overly rash people tend to get even the *cautious* ones killed, and Rhen was just beginning to *like* Sinari. "Idiots. Bloody morons. I need a drink..."

* Lanva` sighs, eyeing Rahdrey a breif moment. Duty calls. "Just... Don't blow us all up, yeah?" She shakes her head. Yes, this has all gotten very out of hand. And stupid. One hand goes for the cuffs at her belt, moving cautiously towards Micha... "Now, you can come quietly. And maybe you won't be in too much trouble. Or I will have to take you by force, I'm sorry."

* Derkin sees his opening. Skilled in magic though he may be, it is obvious to him that Rahdrey has not been in many brawls. Seizing the opportunity, Derkin tries to grab the mage's sword arm and tackle him to the floor. "Ourani Sympathizer!" Derkin yells over his shoulder at Lanva. "What kind of Corporal won't protect the city she's sworn to protect?!"

* Rahdrey was watching Micha, which was a rather foolish decision. But it's true, he hasn't been in barely any brawls. The mages are usually in the back, safe and sound tossing magic around. Derkin knocks him to the floor, and Rahdrey will struggle to shove the man off, but his staff is proving to be more a hindrance now. "Stupid bitch! Don't just talk, -do- something!" His patience is at an end. Lanva is proving to be incredibly ineffective in aiding him and is barely following orders.

<Rhen> "*What* did you call her?!" This is probably the closest that Rhen has come to throwing a punch in several years - fists clenched, the thought of joining in crosses his mind. Luckily, he's a rational sort, and it passes almost instantly. "Lanva... Don't listen to this asshole - do it according to the proper codes... You're better than he is."

* Lanva` paused, glancing back at the detained Rahdrey, to Rhen, then back to Micha... she was torn between duty and what she really wanted to do, which was let the guy go. But she hesitated longer than she really needed to, and in doing so Micha bolted. She made a show of following after him, out the door, but he eaily got away and she wasn't going to follow. So she made her way back inside. "Need

<Lanva`> any help there, RahRah?" She crossed her arms over her chest, leaning casually against the doorframe. Irritated.

* Derkin will move to pin Rahdrey down, attempting to batter him into either unconsciousness or submission. Or both. He really wasn't too worried which came first. "You Ourani are only in power because people are afraid of you," he says, more to Rhen and Lanva than to Rahdrey. "If we band together, then we will have the strength to reclaim our home!"

* Rahdrey suffers under Derkin's assault, the man's fists pounding into him ruthlessly. Another powerful crack to the jaw has him spitting blood from a bitten tongue. Magic is useless when you're pinned down on a floor and can't get a word out. Lanva's taunt is heard, but he's too distracted with trying to fight off Derkin. The man is holding down his sword arm, but he'll beat at the assailant with his left hand. The mage is clearly losing.

<Rhen> "Lanva... Why don't you go see if you can't 'catch' that man?" An odd sounding request, but the emphasis and the accompanying wink seem to indicate something altogether different. Leaning in closer, he'll whisper "If you're off outside, you can't be held responsible - you were following orders, techincally. That kid's long gone by now - but you're not *trying* to catch him." Thank... Whoever that Rahdrey's a bit distracted now. Rhen is watching th

<Rhen> a bit distracted now. Rhen is watching the fight with a bit of concern, waving Lily over and letting her know that he'll be needing supplies.

<Lanva`> That did sound like a good enough plan, but she was doomed either way. Rahdrey would likely call on her insubordination no matter what she did at this point. She gave him a little smile, quickling kissing his cheek. "Thanks... but I'm already in trouble, no matter what I do... So I think I'll just sit back and watch the show." She turns her attention to Derkin. He's right. She was hoping

<Lanva`> someone like him would come along, but now he was about to be arrested. There was no way around that. Not without blatantly disregarding her own duties and going to jail herself. And what good would she be there? "You do realize I'll have to arrest you once you're finished, right?"

* Derkin feels Rahdrey's feeble attempt to beat him off and callously disregards it. He's too focused on making sure this mage doesn't cast anything and in his mind the only way to do that is to knock him out cold. Several more punches to the head will hopefully accomplish that and he can turn to Lanva and nod. "You can't arrest what you can't find, right Ma'am? Hunters get lost in the wilds all the time." He'll add a wink in at th

<Derkin> add a wink in at that.

<Derkin> "And this guy can't bother you if he got lost chasing a rebel out into the snow fields."

<Rahdrey> The last few blows to the head are enough to rattle his brains into unconsciousness. The Ourani sergeant falls limp beneath Derkin's pinning weight, his counter-attacks ceasing. There's blood on his face from numerous cuts, and there's likely to be extensive bruising, if not worse. Time will tell the full extent of his injuries.

* Rahdrey is now known as PaulineHouseHunting

<Rhen> "Oh shit... *Now* you've done it..." Rhen will move over to the unconscious sergeant, muttering something as he bends over him and examines him. There's a pause, a sigh, and a few moments later the doctor will look up, blood already on his hands. "I'm taking him to the infirmary." He'll shoot a glare over to Derkin, as though the man just shot his puppy - dealing with dying Ourani *never* bodes well. "What the hell are you doing here still?! Get

<Rhen> "What the hell are you doing here still?! Get the fuck out of here before they arrest you!"

* Lanva` eyes Derkin a moment, thinking over her next move carefully, torn between duty and what's right. Finally she pushes off the wall, walking towards the men. "Go." She motions over her shoulder, towards the door. "I won't stop you. Not this time. But if I see you again I will have to take you in or it's my head in the noose..." She shakes her head. What a fine mess this is. She'll move

<Lanva`> to the other side of the fallen ourani, looking over him at Rhen. "Need help carrying him...?"

* Derkin will sigh as he climbs off of Rahdrey. "He'll only cause you grief when he wakes up," he says, indicating the unconscious mage. "I'm going. But I'm taking him with me. He's only gonna cause you grief when he wakes up. I can take him out of your hair and neither of you will get in trouble."

<Rhen> Like *hell* you will. The man needs medical attention after the thrashing you gave him. You've done *your* part, now let me do mine - he won't be going anywhere for a while..." Even as he speaks, Rhen is moving to heft the Ourani soldier up, rather intent on getting him to the infirmary before anyone does anything *else* stupid. "You kill an Ourani officer, and they'll be out for blood - they'll kill scores for your one." He'll look to Lanva for

<Rhen> for your one." He'll look to Lanva for support, hoping she can interpret the glance and get the man out of the way.

* Lanva` felt a little backed into a corner. She could see both points, both very valid. And she was torn. After a long, awkward sort of moment on her part, she finally spoke. "Dealing with him now would only cause more trouble, more than this city can handle at the moment... But you're not the only one that wants Sinari back. For now, it's best that you hide for a bit. When the coast is clear,

<Lanva`> come here and look for Neal. He's a bartender here and almost always around. I think he may be of use to you. And you could certainly help him." She pointed her finger at him, glaring. "And you will apologize for calling me an Ourani sympathizer when I am anything but."

* Derkin stares long and hard between Lanva and the blissfully silent mage before speaking again. He was so close to making a difference, so close to giving those Ourani what they deserved. He wasn't planning on killing the mage, merely to detain him, like what he'd done to countless other Sinari citizens. Finally he nods. He is more than willing to defy the Ourani, but the Frost Watch, his home guard, is another story. "I'm...I....a

<Derkin> story. "I'm...I....alright Ma'am." He grabs his coat and moves towards the door, pausing and turning back to Rhen and Lanva. "I apologize. This city has grown so frightened of these invaders, almost no one will stand up to them. I assumed you were the same. I am sorry. I will be back, but if you ever need help, just head towards the northern wilds." And with that he will vanish out into the streets.

* Rhen will breathe a sigh of heavy relief once the door closes behind the man, finally lifting Rahdrey up to where he can carry the mage. "Thanks... I find myself owing you *again* Lanva..." His expression is one of sheer fatigue and frustrations - those green eyes seem so tired right now, but still he'll manage a little smile. "You should probably get back to the barracks and make this report before our sergeant here wakes up - it'll be a while, bu

<Rhen> sergeant here wakes up - it'll be a while, but he'll be in *pain* and he'll be *pissed*. Now might be the best time to lodge your story - I'll tend to this one, and you can have him back in a few hours... I hope."

* Derkin is now known as Roz

<Lanva`> "If it were anyone else, I'd stay and help you patch them up... Heh." She moves to quickly press a hard little kiss against Rhen's lips, reluctantly pulling away after. They hadn't really had any time together in weeks and she missed him. "Keep his as long as you like... Please." She hesitated, then started towards the door. "I'll get this straitened out and then come see you as soon as

<Lanva`> I can... if I'm not arrested myself for insubordination, but that shouldn't happen until after he's awake..." She sighed, reaching for the door. She held it open for Rhen, as his hands were likely full with Rahdrey. She turned to go... but stopped, turned back to give him another quick kiss, then darted off.

* Rhen will smile, a little more energetic after the gesture of affection, doing his best to kiss her back with his hands full. "Well, he probably needs some fairly heavy medication.... Mages are hard to predict, though." He'll pause once he gets outside, just long enough to watch her zip off, before sighing and trudging across the road tot he infirmary. "Alright, you little prick... Let's hope the pain of waking up halts that temper a bit, eh?"
